Reel Blood is a scary horror themed slot machine. A 5 reel video slot with amazing graphics and sounds, accompanied by polished and entertaining bonus rounds that keep even the most particular of players happy for many hours. This game was developed online before hitting the Vegas casinos
It definitely seems that the Vampire craze will never be over and in the past few years, we have had the opportunity to witness a surplus of books, movies, and TV shows, all promoting Gothic horror and Vampire genre as almost being the new pink.
One field where this is not utterly annoying is online gambling and game software design, especially when the slot is not branded and we get to guess which popular cinematic release has inspired the developer and affected the appearance of the slot's main characters. In case of RTG's Reel Blood, none of the characters looks familiar, (which is understandable, given that the theme is obscure), although the female Vampire bears a slight resemblance to Selene from Underworld.
Apart from pseudo-Selene, other icons include Male Vampire, Vampire Victim, Blood Vial and ever so boring A, K, Q, J, 10, and 9.
Reel Blood saves us from selecting and adjusting paylines by introducing 243 all ways win structure with 25 coins bet minimum. The value of the bet is selected manually and the total you can wager on a spin is $125. The developer did not display the return to player percentage, although RTG games usually range from 95 to 97.5%.
If the proximity of Vampires does not give you the adrenaline rush, speed might do the trick – Auto Play can be activated to start continuous spinning which can be stopped manually or after a certain amount is lost or won.
This is the part that can make or break any slot. Bonuses are probably the most important aspect of the game, just next to the RTP and visuals. The game logo is the game's Wild, which lands only on reels 2, 3 and 4, replacing other icons. Scatter symbol cannot be replaced by the Wild and 3 of these icons trigger the Blood Bar Bonus.
The feature will have the players transferred from the reels onto the screen with 15 bottles with blood, and their task is to pick the bottles and reveal cash prizes until the ”Collect” sing pops up, which will return the player to the base game.
Together with the standard payouts, the players can win the progressive jackpot that could be hit after every spin. There will be no special requirements that will qualify you for the jackpot, however, pressing the bets is know to help with progressives.
The first thing that comes to mind when looking back at the bonus features is the lack of Free Spins. We have all grown accustomed to this particular bonus and it feels extremely empty without it.
Instead, the developer provided a picking game which is a nice addition but still not enough to feel the gaping void. Let's face it, Free Spins are pretty much a must.
Another disappointment is the lack of RTP information in the game info section, which is not the case with other slots by the same developer. It can be concluded that the return to player percentage is on the lower side, as this is usually the case with any slot featuring a progressive jackpot.
Unless you enjoy the theme and you have already played everything there is to be played with Vampires and there are no more decent Vampire slots left, Reel Blood can be a nice pastime until a new slot within the genre is launched or, at least, until the new trend is set. In short, a nice slot but not much more than that.
