Tiki Torch is an Aristocrat release with 5 reels and 20 paylines, inspired by the popularity of the bamboo torch which has stepped out from Tiki culture and become an indispensable part of the decor for every space that tends to capture tropical aesthetics.
This game has made quite a big comeback recently in Las Vegas and has been added back to many casinos. This might be because it is one of the most simple games out there and so an upgrade would make it an exciting addition for fans, with better sound, graphics and more fun in the bonus rounds.
The torch itself is no more than a bamboo with the flammable liquid inside the container, often used as decoration during festivals in Malaysia, Thailand, and Burma.
The appearance of the torch can vary from a simple wooden, metal, or even a glass container on a stick to the skilfully carved Tiki mask, resembling the one you can see in the game as the slot's Wild. Other Tiki Torch symbols with a higher value are The Knife, The Hut, Pearl and The Canoe, while A, K, Q, J, 10, 9 and 8 are the lower value icons.
The maximum number of lines that the player can employ per spin is 20 and they can be adjusted using the buttons on the bottom of the screen. The betways can only be activated in groups – for example, players will be able to play 1 line but not 2 or 3 lines; instead, the lines can be activated in sessions of 5, 10, 15, and 20.
The coin value is pre-set to $0.01 and up to 100 coins can be wagered per line, making the highest possible stake 200 per spin. Auto Play can be triggered through Auto Start tab and the uninterrupted spins will go on for as long as you let them and on the same betting level that you selected prior to activating the Auto Play. In the long run, the game is expected to return 94.85% and Tiki Torch is estimated as a medium to high variance slot.
Being the slot's Wild, Torch icon can replace all of the symbols and thus create a winning combination. Scatter Pearl is an exception and when three of these symbols land left to right, 8 Free Spins will be awarded, during which other high-value icons (The Canoe, The Hut, and The Knife) will take in the role of the Wild and replace the Torch.
While the spins are in progress, Scatter symbols can appear again and win the amount of money equivalent to the amount generated when the feature was triggered. Players who feel that the slot could use a bit of adrenaline will have Gamble Feature at their disposal which can double or even quadruple the winning.
Admittedly, Tiki Torch is not a visually impressive game and you will not get a lot of action from the slot's bonus features – basically, all you will get are Free Spins with some extra Wilds.
Free Spins can be re-triggered, which is nice, however, not enough to make up for the linear and unimaginative gameplay that does not offer a lot of excitement - if any.
Tiki Torch is undoubtedly a monotonous game, but the developer was clearly not very interested in appearance and plenty of players will be happy to deal with flat settings in return to the re-triggerable Free Spins with an excellent hit frequency.
The fact that you will not need to wait for ages and ages to unlock the bonus rounds is admirable, especially when you bundle that up with the return to player percentage. With the two elements in the mix, the mediocre visuals truly fade and Tiki Torch becomes one of those slots that are definitely worth trying and even recommending (in lack of something better, if we are to be perfectly honest).
