Some themes are instantly recognizable, while others seem to make no sense at all. And Fire Burner definitely falls into the latter category! It’s a fruit machine with the occasional spicy treat or two, and a whole lot of fire to go around! We’re not quite sure what’s going on. Is this some kind of fruit hell? Is that pepper really that spicy? Or are we just desperately overanalysing an old slot for comedic effect? We’ll let you be the judge of that as we check out this old IGT game.
Gameplay
We pride ourselves on not being too picky when it comes to graphics. You give us a release, and we could probably play it, no matter how much we dislike its visuals. But wow, Fire Burner really tested us on that front! It combines hell and fruits into graphics that will certainly stick around in your head due to how surreal the whole thing is. Unfortunately, with how dated everything looks, you’re less weirded out and more just… bored would be a good description.
But just because the visuals are dull, doesn’t mean the gameplay is! At first glance, it’s exactly what you’d expect from an older slot. It’s played on a 5x3 board, and it has 15 flexible payline which pay left to right and can be turned on and off at will. But what sets this game apart from its competitors are its special features, and a shot at winning three different progressive jackpots! It should be noted that not everyone will be eligible for the progressive jackpot, as you do have to bet maximum credits per payline for that. But even without that, there’s still a fixed 10,000x jackpot you can score!
If you’re used to being able to directly change your total bet, then this IGT release might take a little bit of getting used to. But it’s all quite simple, really. You adjust the number of active paylines, the coin value and the number of coins per payline to change the total bet. This allows players to stake as little as GBP 0.01 with each spin, which is absolutely miniscule! We recommend at least having all fifteen paylines on, which bumps up your minimum stake to GBP 0.15 per spin. Meanwhile, with all three values maxed out, your stake will be GBP 150 on each spin: perfect for high rollers.
Depending on your wager, the top prize you can win will be drastically different. There are three progressive jackpots: but to be eligible for them, gamblers have to play with maximum credits per payline. Assuming you play with all fifteen paylines active (which you really should!), that you have to spend GBP 1.50 at minimum to be eligible to win the progressive jackpots. Even if you decide to skip on the progressive jackpot, the fixed one is quite good, too! There’s also no available RTP information.
Bonus Rounds
Collect three, four or five Scatters to win ten, twenty-five or fifty free spins, respectively. No other bonuses activate with this special feature. So it’s just plain free spins: no multipliers, extra Wilds, or anything like that. If you want more boosters, you have to activate them!
Assuming you’re eligible for a progressive jackpot, which one you receive depends on the number of jackpot symbols that appear. Three, four or five pots of gold earn you the regular progressive jackpot, the super jackpot and the grand jackpot, respectively. If you’re not eligible for a progressive jackpot, these pots of gold will net you 100x, 1000x and 10,000x, respectively.
The final bonus has you opening lids to reveal cash prizes beneath. This keeps going until you find a stop icon, which ends the special feature.
Summary
Like many other IGT releases, graphics are the biggest problem Fire Burner has. If you can get past the blurry symbols and fruit machine aesthetic, there’s a simple, but fun slot hidden beneath. Progressive jackpots, a bonus round, and free spins, all wrapped up in one profitable package? Sign us right up! Really, we only have one major concern, and that’s the lack of any RTP information for this game.
