Cool Jewels Slot Machine

It’s not that easy to find a slots developer without at least one game featuring a collection of precious stones as symbols. Williams Interactive (WMS) contributes with Cool Jewels, a title which looks like an arcade game but is in fact a complex 6-reel video slot. The game plays on a 6x6 grid and prompts you to form the so-called Matching Groups. These are groups created of 4 or more identical symbols connected horizontally and / or vertically. Having delivered a payout, all non-Wild winning symbols will explode to provide space for new ones. This is your standard cascading feature which keeps looping either until no additional winning combos are formed, or for a maximum of 30 times, whichever comes first.

Pay Per Symbol meter on the left-hand side contains 12 sections, each with a certain number of slices filled by destroyed winning icons. The goal is, of course, to go as high as possible by landing consecutive wins and thus benefit from higher multipliers. Once the cascading ends, meter is re-set and you’ll once again start filling it from the bottom.

Spinning action is accompanied by an enchanted little tune, and Autoplay button allows you to sit back and relax while reels do their thing for up to 200 times.

Cool Jewels is a high variance game with an RTP of 96.1%. Owing to its complex mechanism it’s difficult to assess maximum potential payout, but be ready to see your total stake multiplied by hundreds. The more symbols you manage to destroy in succession, the bigger will be your prize.

The base bet is worth $0.5 and total stake defined by a multiplier chosen by the player. Set it as high as 400 and each of your spins will cost $200. On top of jewels of various colours and shapes, reels will display a bunch of special icons such as a diamond with x10 multiplier, green watermark marked “Wild”, pink watermark with an image of a bomb, and blue watermark marked “x10”. If your head is spinning already, allow me to warn you this is only the beginning.

You’ll benefit from no less than 4 special Wild icons, 3 of which only appear on reels 2, 3, 4 and 5. Unstable Wild, Shattering Wild, and Shocking Wild get activated when part of a Matching Group. Active Unstable Wild will destroy all remaining symbols adjacent to its own position, Shattering Wild will do the same with horizontal and vertical ones, and Shocking Wild will perform the same exercise with icons positioned diagonally. What’s more, these Wild symbols create Wild Pairs when horizontally adjacent and activated, thus triggering one of four enhancement features.

Destroy 4 or more Bonus symbols and you’ll be awarded Free Games Bonus which activates 8, 10, 15 or 20 free spins. Each Bonus symbol you manage to explode delivers additional 5 free games, and landing at least 4 simultaneously re-triggers the feature.

The game will likely take a while to understand and the best way to familiarise yourself with special features is to play. Paytable itself is a good place to start but does not make things crystal clear, far from it. We can imagine fans of simpler affairs giving up half way through and moving on to another title. But the uniqueness of this WMS game deserves a bit of your time; give it a chance and you might fall in love.
